A Very aggressive bidding round was seen for the Batch II of Phase 1 of JNNSM’S 350 MW of SOLAR PV Projects. French Co. Solar Direct Emerged as Lowest Bidder @ Rs.7.49 per solar KWHR while Green Infra highest bidder @ Rs.9.39 per KWHR.
Bidding for 200MW Solar Projects under Rajasthan Solar Policy is ongoing with 31st Jan, 2012 being the last date for RfS submission. The highest bid under Rajasthan Solar Policy is expected to go below Rs. 9 as under Rajasthan Policy, the transmission lines will be laid by State Transmission Utility.
Madhya Pradesh has also taken out 200MW of Solar Projects bidding. The last date for RfS submission if expected to be in the mid of Feb, 2012, but the exact date is yet to be announced.
Gujarat, pioneer of Solar Power in India, is about to start with the third phase of their Gujarat Solar Policy. As compared to National Solar Mission and other state policies, Gujarat is going ahead with Feed in Tariff of Rs. 12.04 for 12 years and Rs. 6.84 for the next 13 years.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Orissa are also planning to come out with their own Solar state Policy
CERC recently fixed the floor price of solar REC for the period 2012-2017 as Rs.9300 / MWH which makes projects under the REC Mechanism more profitable in the short term. In the long term even if one predicts the Solar REC’s price falling, the expected rise in the price at which electricity could be sold after 2017 would keep projects under REC Mechanism in line with JNNSM projects. It is noteworthy that REC projects have no domestic content mandate, no requirements for bid-bonds, bank guarantees etc thus reducing the burden of financial costs on the cost of solar power.
