The 250 MW UT solar park based on concentrated photo-voltaic technology would be built and designed following the pattern of Narmada solar power plant in Gujarat. Also, the installation of solar-based LED traffic lights, solar street lights, building integrated solar photo voltaic and other relevant solar products will be initiated by the municipal corporation authority.
To meet Chandigarh’s energy demand, it has been marked as one of the 60 cities to be developed as a model solar city by the MNRE (Ministry of new and renewable energy) as part of the National solar mission. The concentrated PV based project on completion is expected to reduce the cost by around 40% with the efficiency getting double of what we obtain from using flat panel technology.
